Yerevan under snow at first light, with the two snow-covered peaks of Ararat across the plain

6 days · A seasonal journey

Armenia in Winter

Warm city days. Two nights in the mountains. Winter on its own terms.

A starting journey, not the whole country. Keep what fits, change what doesn't.

A starting itinerary. Everything is confirmed with you before anything is arranged.

The shape of the trip

Warm tables in the city, winter outside it, and two nights in the mountains shaped around snow or water.

The one decision

What kind of winter do you want?

Explanatory, not to scale. It follows your changes to the days. Solid lines go out, dashed lines come back; the ring is a day in Yerevan.

Day by day

Every day has a job.

Days 2 and 3 swap with the weather: the outdoor day takes the better sky. Your changes go into the brief; nothing is arranged until you confirm.

  1. 01Arrive · settleFree time

    Arrive in Yerevan

Pickup from the airport, check-in, and a warm first table in the centre if there is energy left.

    • No excursion
    • Energy: low
  2. 02Stone in winterAnchor

    Garni & Geghard in winter

The temple above the gorge, a monastery cut into the rock, and bread from the tonir while it is cold outside.

Why here: The close outdoor day. It takes whichever of Days 2 and 3 has the better weather, and the Symphony walk runs only if the path is safe.

    • About half a day
    • Short road day
    • Symphony walk if the path is safe
  3. 03Warm dayLocal day

Yerevan, indoors and at the table

Manuscripts, the market, a kitchen or a workshop. In season, a Christmas market or a winter evening in the centre, confirmed for your dates.

Why here: The warm day. It moves around the weather so the outdoor day gets the better sky.

    • No long drive
    • Energy: yours to set
Something to hang the day on (optional, up to two)
  4. 04Up to the snowTransition

    Up to Tsaghkadzor

North on a maintained road to the resort. Kecharis, in the town itself, before or after check-in; then the first night in the mountains.

Why here: The bags move today, so the day stays short and arrives with light left.

    • Short road day
    • Bags move · sleep in Tsaghkadzor
  5. 05Snow & movementLocal day

A snow day, at your level

Ski or learn if the season is running, or ride the ropeway up and walk the snow at the top.

Why here: No drive. If the snow is poor, the day has its own shape: the ropeway up for the view if it runs, Kecharis unhurried, a long lunch in town, and the hotel pool or spa where your base has one.

    • No long drive
    • Ski level asked in your brief
    • Snow never promised
    • Poor-snow day planned
  6. 06ReturnTransition

A lake detour, if the day allows

If your flight, the roads and the weather leave room, a detour to Lake Sevan and Sevanavank before heading back towards Yerevan. Otherwise, straight to the airport.

    • Moderate road day
    • Sevan is a detour, not on the way
Depends on the roads and your flight. Pick what sounds right; the desk confirms it closer to the day.

What can change

Almost everything. That is the point.

The days, the pace, how much you walk, how long you drive, where you sleep and whether a guide comes with you. Tell us what should move, soften or disappear, and a person reshapes it.

How it is arranged

  1. 01You shape a starting journey and send it as a brief.
  2. 02A person at Safar reads it and checks what can actually run.
  3. 03The partner who would arrange it is named, with the itinerary and price.
  4. 04Only if you say yes is anything booked. Payment goes to that partner.

Designed by Safar. Fulfilled by an approved local partner.

The partner who arranges and runs the journey is named to you before you confirm or pay anything.

None of it quite you?

Start with your own Armenia.

Keep what fits. Change what doesn't. We'll shape the rest.
