9 days · A starting journey
Armenia in 9 Days
Nine days is enough to stop coming back to Yerevan. Four nights in the city for stone, forest and lake, then south through the wine valley to Syunik, and home by Khor Virap.
A starting journey, not the whole country. Keep what fits, change what doesn't.
What stays with you
Four moments from nine days.
Not the list of stops. The parts people still talk about when they get home.
Day 2Inside Geghard, where the mountain is the architecture.
Day 8Ararat across the plain, closer than anywhere else.
Day 5A valley you stayed in, not drove through.
Day 6 or 7The ropeway across the gorge, first thing in the morning.

Arrive in Yerevan
Pickup from the airport, check-in, and nothing else required. If there is energy left, a first walk and a first table in the centre.
- No excursion
- Energy: low
Garni, Geghard & the Symphony of Stones
A temple above the gorge, basalt columns below it and a monastery cut into the rock.
Why here: The day that explains the rest: landscape, stone, and bread from the tonir. It goes first because it asks little of the road.

- About half a day
- Short road day
- Moderate walking
Dilijan, Haghartsin & Lake Sevan
Into the forest first, then back out to the lake at the end of the day.
Why here: Stone and canyon give way to forest and water. Worth it if the trip already holds enough monasteries.

A slower day in Yerevan
After two full days outside the city, this one deliberately slows down.
- No long drive

South to Areni and Noravank
The bags move. Down the Ararat plain into the Areni valley: a cellar, the red canyon at Noravank, and the night in Vayots Dzor.
Why here: One night here keeps the road to Syunik from becoming a single marathon, and the wine valley gets an evening, not a stop.

- Moderate road day
- Bags move · sleep in Vayots Dzor
Into Syunik: over the pass to Goris
The bags move again. Over the Vorotan pass, Karahunj's standing stones on the way, and Shaki waterfall near Sisian if it is running. Two nights in Goris.
Why here: Karahunj is a stop on the road, not a second anchor. The anchor of the south is Tatev.

- Substantial road day

- Shaki optional; flow varies
Tatev across the gorge
The ropeway over the Vorotan gorge to the monastery on its spur, then the afternoon slow: Old Khndzoresk, or nothing at all.
Why here: Tatev gets a day of its own instead of the end of a drive. If the ropeway does not run, the road goes up instead.

- Short road day
- Ropeway weather-dependent; road alternative
The long road north, with Khor Virap at the end
Back up through Vayots Dzor to the Ararat plain. Khor Virap is the last stop before Yerevan, with Ararat if the sky allows.
Why here: The one road the trip drives twice. Moving Khor Virap here gives it a reason to stop.

How it is arranged
- 01You shape a starting journey and send it as a brief.
- 02A person at Safar reads it and checks what can actually run.
- 03The partner who would arrange it is named, with the itinerary and price.
- 04Only if you say yes is anything booked. Payment goes to that partner.
